Flexible Work Hours Can Improve your Mental Health
Mental health and work are interrelated. Mental health issues can be caused or intensified by work, but it can also promote mental wellness. In particular, flexible working arrangements can greatly benefit mental health at work and everyday life.
Flexible work options can support our efforts to improve mental health for ourselves and others, whether we are mental health patients, caregivers, or professionals.
According to a survey of over 3,000 workers, 97% of people believe that a less restrictive job would improve their quality of life. In other words, remote work, flexible hours, and shorter schedules can positively impact significantly.
According to the survey, work-life balance and commute-related stress are two of the most significant reasons people desire a job with flexible options. Furthermore, 16% of respondents self-identified as living with a chronic physical or mental illness. Another 10% identified as caregivers of someone with a physical or mental health issue.
Reducing work-related stress
Even if a person delights in their daily job duties, getting to and from work daily can adversely affect mental health. In Indian cities, the traffic snarls and bad roads add to commute-related stress.
Among employees, 75% reported that working remotely would help them reduce stress and improve productivity by reducing distractions during the workday. In comparison, 74% said working remotely would help them avoid office politics, 65% said they would avoid office politics, 60% said they would have a quieter workplace, and 52% said they would have a more comfortable and personalised workplace.
Making health and wellness a bigger focus is what is needed
Professionals spend a lot of time, energy, and focus on work every day. By providing flexible work options, companies communicate to their employees that they can and should invest more time in health and well-being. That’s why 77% of those we surveyed thought that flexible work options would assist them in remaining healthy.
Family and time-saving are two of the most important reasons people want a job with flexible hours, work-life balance, and commute woes. Because people are constantly pulled between time spent with their families and work, mental health can be affected. By allowing those priorities to coexist more peacefully, flexible work options can help.
When a company offers employees flexible work options, the health and well-being of their workers and the company’s culture and productivity are positively affected.
